Battersea to Sea
120 km. Off road. On the limit.
Built for teams who want a proper test.
Battersea to Sea is a 120 km off-road push from the city to the water - a rolling relay where your crew decides the strategy and earns every metre.
Run it as one long block or chop it into sharp rotations. Keep it social, keep it moving - but don’t confuse “good vibes” with “easy”.
Supporters and spectators are encouraged. The day is better when there’s noise at transitions, food in the car, and someone tracking the numbers.
Route
The line is set. Your plan isn’t.
Race information
Thanks for being part of it. Here’s how the day works.
The race starts at 07:30 sharp.
All runners from all teams run the opening stretch together from Battersea to:
Sheen Lane Car Park, Richmond
(Sheen Ln, London SW14)
There is free parking there at weekends.
Leave your support car at Sheen Lane in advance and make your way back to Battersea for the start.
One practical option is the train from Mortlake to Queenstown Road, followed by a short jog to the start.
At Sheen Lane, one runner from each team continues.
The rest move into the support vehicle.
From this point onwards, it becomes a rolling relay.
You can have a dedicated support driver or rotate drivers when you rotate runners. It’s entirely up to you, just keep things safe and sensible on the road.
Beyond following the official route, your strategy is your own.
You might run your full distance in one block, break it into shorter efforts, or rotate frequently. That’s part of the challenge.
The key rule:
By the finish, all runners on a team must be within 3km of each other in total distance covered.
If someone is short on distance, you’ll need to correct it before finishing. That may mean extra kilometres at the end.
Keep track of it as you go.
We finish at the water line in front of Perch at Lancing Beach.
All team members should be present at the finish.
All runners and supporters are invited to join us at Perch for:
Pizza
Drinks
Prize-giving
There are plenty of B&Bs and hotels along the coast.
Some of the organisers will be staying at The Barn Campsite in Lancing, about 10 mins walk from the finish.
Finish at the waterline. Stay for the after.
Perch at Lancing Beach. All runners present. Pizza, drinks, prize-giving - supporters welcome.
